Stacey Dash
Stacey Dash (born
January 20,
1966 in
The Bronx, New York) is an
American actress, best known for her role as high school student Dionne Davenport in the
1995 film Clueless.
Stacey started her carrer in the TV series Sesame Street as a child originally. Dash's first major film role was in the
Richard Pryor comedy
Moving in
1988. She also had sizable roles in
Mo' Money and
Renaissance Man during this time. But Dash received her big break with the film
Clueless with
Alicia Silverstone. Dash played the teenager Dionne Marie Davenport even though she was 29 at the time. Dash looked much younger than her age and was able to pull off the role.
The film eventually spawned a television spinoff in
1996 titled
Clueless. The series, which lacked Silverstone, eventually was cancelled in
1999. She then went on to play Vanessa Weir in the television series
The Strip. However, it was not a success and was cancelled after a handful of episodes.
Post-Clueless
After the TV series
Clueless, Dash's career went dormant. Her credits include many little known movies, including
Gang Of Roses, with
Monica Calhoun,
Lisa Raye, and
Lil' Kim, and
Getting Played with
Vivica A. Fox and
Bill Bellamy. She has also appeared as small guest roles on TV shows such as
Eve and
.
In 2004, Dash was featured in a music video by
Kanye West, label mate of cousin
Damon Dash, for the single "
All Falls Down." Dash posed nude, at the age of 40, in the
August 2006 issue of
Playboy. She is also featured in the upcoming
Michelle Pfeiffer film
I Could Never Be Your Woman.
Dash is the cousin of
Damon Dash, the former
CEO and co-founder of
Roc-A-Fella Records.
