The Breach (Enterprise episode)

The Breach is the 21st episode of season 2 of Star Trek: Enterprise which originally aired on April 23, 2003.

Synopsis

The Enterprise is asked to evacuate three Denobulan geologists after the controlling government is taken over by a militant faction.

Plot summary

Archer speaks to a patient.

Xantorous the planet.Government taken over by a militant faction and demands all off-worlders leave or be jailed. The denobulans ask the Enterprise to find their scientists in caves whom have been in there for six months. They give them (Trip Tucker, Malcolm Reed, and Travis Mayweather) 3 days and Archer gives them 1 1/2 days.

While the 3 are in the caves, Enterprise helps a ship with severe radiation problems from a reactor leak.

Dr. Phlox finds himself in a quandary when a dying alien arrives in sickbay. The alien, Hudak, is an Antaran, a member of a species with which Phlox's race - the Denobulans - were once at war. Even now, decades after the war ended, Denobulans and Antarans still hate each other with a vengeance. Hudak refuses to be treated by a Denobulan doctor, and Phlox is obligated to respect his wishes - under Denobulan medical ethics, a patient's wishes take precedence. Phlox continues to struggle with the ethical implications of treating Hudak, especially since Phlox himself once had a bitter parting of the ways with his son Metis over a similar incident (Metis, like most Denobulans, hates Antarans but Phlox had attempted to mend relations with them).

On the way, Travis breaks his leg. When Trip and Malcolm reach the Denobulans, they refuse to leave. However, Malcolm forces them to leave. They manage to leave 2 hours after the deadline, but otherwise safely.
