Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line

The is a metro line in Tokyo, Japan, administered by the Tokyo Metro. Its color on maps is dark green. Stations on the Chiyoda Line carry the letter C followed by a number. Its planning line number is Line 9.

The 21.9 km line serves the wards of Adachi, Arakawa, Bunkyō,Chiyoda, Minato and Shibuya. A branch line goes from Ayase to Kita-ayase and is an additional 2.1 km long. There is also a short stretch of tunnel in Taitō ward.

The first stretch of line was opened on December 201969 betweenKita-Senjū and Ōtemachi.The line was almost completed by October 101972 when it reachedYoyogi-Kōen, although the 1 km section betweenthere and Yoyogi-Uehara was not completed until March 311978. The branch line to Kita-ayase was opened on December 201979.

Chiyoda Line trains interoperate with the JR Jōban Linefrom Ayase Station and with the Odakyū Linefrom Yoyogi-Uehara. JR through trains are 203 series EMUs specifically designed for the Chiyoda Line.

Starting May 152006, women-only cars have been available on early-morning trains from Toride on the Jōban Line to Yoyogi-Uehara.
