Tran, Bulgaria

Tran (Bulgarian: Трън , Serbian: Трн/Trn, meaning "thorn" in both languages) is a small town in Pernik Province, western Bulgaria. It is 27 kilometres away from the town of Breznik and 15 km from the border with Serbia.

One dinstinctive feature of the town is that a unique dialect of the Bulgarian language is spoken in Tran. This dialect differs so greatly from ordinary Bulgarian that someone from a nearby town such as Pernik could not understand it easily.
