Tuan-Li Diana LiaoTuan-Li Diana Liao is one of the two real-life conference interpreters behind Sydney Pollack's film thriller, The Interpreter. BiographyLiao who was born in Hong Kong on June 1, 1949 studied literature and journalism in Hong Kong and Paris. She was a former chief interpreter at the United Nations headquarters in New York. She also did translation work for various artists and writers. She is fluent in English, Chinese, French and Spanish. She was replaced as chief of the UN Interpretation Service by her colleague, Brigitte Andreassier-Pearl, the other interpreter-adviser to Sydney Pollack.
