Tymoviridae

Maculavirus

Tymoviridae are monopartite single-stranded positive sense RNA plant viruses, belonging to group IV of the Baltimore classification of viruses. The genome consists of one large open reading frame and is capped at the 5' terminus. The particles are non-enveloped and isometric with a diameter of around 30nm, with an icosahedral structure and a triangulation number of 3.

The largest of three genera is Tymovirus with 24 species where as the other genera, Marafivirus and Maculavirus have 4 and 2 species respectively.

The Tymoviridae are a relatively new family, only approved in 2002.The Tymoviridae family include the following genera:
*Genus Tymovirus; type species: Turnip yellow mosaic virus
*Genus Marafivirus; type species: Maize rayado fino virus
*Genus Maculavirus; type species: Grapevine fleck virus
