Weohstan

Weohstan (Proto-Norse Wīhastainaz [1]) is a Swedish champion in Beowulf, and he is the father of Wiglaf. Weohstan and his son Wiglaf belonged to a family/clan named the Waegmundings.

Weohstan was loyal to his tribe, and when his king Ohthere was murded by his own brother Onela he stayed loyal to the king of Sweden. Consequently, when Onela lauches an invasion into Geatland to kill his fugitive nephews Eadgils and Eanmund, Weohstan is part of it, and slays Eanmund.

When Beowulf attacks the dragon, Weohstan's sword is carried by his son, Wiglaf.
