WKOX

WKOX is an AM station from Framingham, Massachusetts. WKOX is on 1200 kHz, and has a power of 10 kW in the daytime, and 1 kW at nighttime. It is owned by Clear Channel Communications, and currently simulcasts WXKS-AM from Everett, Massachusetts. Since November 2004 the two stations have programmed progressive talk, mostly from the Air America Radio network, serving the Boston metro area.

WKOX was originally a daytime-only station on 1190 kHz, but during the 1980's moved to 1200 kHz to gain authorization to go 24 hours. In the past, WKOX has programmed the following formats: full service, classic country, local talk, and brokered foreign programming. WKOX signed on an FM station during the 1950's. Today, that station is 105.7 WROR, owned by Greater Media with a classic hits format targeting the Boston, Massachusetts area.

WKOX is highly directional to protect WOAI (another Clear Channel-owned station and in fact the company's flagship) out of San Antonio, Texas.
